An Oldie Revisited

Hello Everyone!  I needed to make a get well card for a friend and decided to use this stamp from the retired SU stamp set Wellness Wishes.  This little guy comes in handy from time to time.  The sentiment and dog are one stamp, but I thought I liked the sentiment a little further down the card, so I stamped it seperately and punched it out with the word window punch.  The white background is emossed with the stripes folder.  It's pretty subtle, but the card is for a man, so I like the simplicity.  Not too fussy!

Summertime Blossoms

Hello Everyone!  A quick, sweet, summertime card.  How many summer days are left?  It's September and there's one thing you can count on here in the midwest, and that's you can't count on the weather.  You never know what it's going to do.  We get 96 degrees one day, the next day, 50 degrees.  I'm trying to hang onto the last days of summer with this simple card.  The stamp sets used are from PTI.  They're Botanical Silhouettes and the sentiment is from Through the Trees.  It's pretty straight forward using Pumpin Pie and Certainly Celery inks.  The accent color is Melon Mambo.

Break A Leg

You usually hear "break a leg" when you're wishing someone good luck on stage.  Not in this case. 

A friend of mine took a nasty fall and broke her leg.  She had surgery yesterday.  I thought I'd make a card to help brighten her day. 

I used the bone frame file from the on-line Silhouette store.  After bringing the bone image onto my virtual mat, I used the knife with the sawtooth edge to "break" it.  I did a small 0.45 offset for the dark mat behind to give it some contast and definition.

I decided to use vellum cardstock for the bandaid so that you could see the sawtooth edge behind it.

Summer Strawberries

Hello Everyone!  Cameo Spotlight is a new blog challenging Silhouette Cameo owners to some fun new projects.  The current challenge is to focus on summertime.   My sister is a strawberry fanatic and her birthday is this month.  This is the card and gift box I came up with to mail to her.  The image is a strawberry card from the Silhouette on-line store.  Doesn't it just say summertime?  The card layers are:  white base, black seed layer, and the top polka dot layer with seed holes cut out to expose the black layer below.  I used black stickles in those holes for a little bit of glossy shine.  Oh so pretty!  Inside, I chose to use a rhinestone file and switched out the blade for a sketch pen using the Chomas Creations pen holder (love that thing!).  I used a glitter pen, not sure the camera picked it up very well.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Inc Sweet as Can Be stamp set. 

What says summertime better than a pint of strawberries?  The files I used for the box and the berries are, again, from the Silhouette on-line store.  The largest berry is really the gift box.  My sister's gift is nestled inside.  The smaller berries are the same file that I reduced to 45%.

Kickin' Up Your Heels

Hello Everyone!  Today I made a card for our daughter's birthday.  She loves fashion, so when I found this glittered cheetah print designer paper, I knew I had to include it on her card.  I created the high heel from the Stiletto Card file from the Silhouette on-line store. I resized it to fit the card front and cut the darker brown background layer.  I then created an inset layer, cut off the heel and ran my glitter paper into the Silhouette as fast as I could, because I was so excited to see how it would turn out.  I ended up having to use a blade setting of 6 and a double cut.  The glitter paper was pretty thick.  I glued the 2 pieces together and added the bling down the heel of the shoe and clustered a few rhinestones as a focal point on the top of the shoe.  I couldn't stop there, and felt a gold bow at the back of the shoe was a must :-)  The sentiment is from Humor in High Heels (SU retired) and inside I computer generated a sentiment that says "Kick up your heels and enjoy your birthday". 

And what's a girl to do without the proper handbag?  It's just not possible to go out without one!!!  I created this from some wonderful gold, textured designer paper that I found at Michaels.  It feels like cloth and looks kind of like a soft leather.  The silhouette cut it like a dream.  I accented it with some of the glitter paper, made a tag for some purse jewelry.  I even put some "feet" on the bottom of the bag.  I think I could have gone on and on with decorating the bag, but I had to stop somewhere.  I placed a gift card inside this little gem and called it good. 

What more can I say.  I had a blast making this!

Life's a Game

Hello Everyone! 

Our son is turning 30 next month (yikes, how did that happen?).  He's always loved video games, and even as an adult, that hasn't changed.  This is the card I came up with for him.  The shape of the controller came from a file at the Silhouette On-Line store.  I manipulated it to form the shaped card base (in white).  The Not Quite Navy (SU) cardstock was stamped with a crinkle background stamp by Rubbernecker.  The 30 is made out of silver glitter paper (SU).  All pieces were cut wth the fabulous Silhouette Cameo.  Did I ever tell you how much I love my machine?  :-)  The sentiment on the inside reads "Even though you're turning 30, life is still fun and games".  Kind of cheesy?  Maybe, but I think he'll love it!

Sneaker with Bling

Hi Everyone!  I love my Silhouette Cameo and making themed cards is so much fun for me right now.  I selected a shoe file from the Silhouette On-Line store to use here. 

This card is for my niece.  She's in those "tween" years, so I thought this would be perfect for her.  I broke the sneaker electronic file down into its various pieces and cut them from a few different papers.  I added eyelets, threaded ribbon and tied a bow.  For a finishing touch, I stamped "cool!" with some alphabet stamps I have had forever.  And, what would a girly sneaker be without some bling?  I had just the right color rhinestones for the job.  The sentiment is from MFT and the tab pull at the bottom of the card is done with a die and stamp set from PTI "Movers and Shakers Sentiments".

Stand Mixer Shaped Card

I've been playing with my Silhouette Cameo again.  This card is for my daughter's birthday.  She's an avid baker and I thought she'd get a kick out of this.  The mixer is an SVG file from the Silhouette on-line store.  I manipulated the file to create the shaped white card base.  The mixer is stamped with the Zebra background stamp from Rubberneckers on Rose Red cardstock (Stampin' Up!).  The sentiment was computer generated and punched out with the Word Window punch from Stampin' Up!  The mixing bowl was cut using Pretty in Pink dsp (Stampin' Up! retired).  I sponged the edges of the bowl to give it some depth.  The bottom of the bowl is glued to the mixer, but the top rim is popped up on dimensionals. 

The inside sentiment was computer generated and the whisk was done using a sparkle gel pen.  I substituted the cut blade housing with an Amy Chomas adjustable pen holder.  So, instead of cutting the whisk, the Cameo draws it.  The camera didn't capture it very well, but the whisk is shiny!  How cool is that?!!!  Love it!

Camera Card

Hello Everyone!  I've really been enjoying creating shaped cards with my Silhouette Cameo!  This is a camera card I made for my son-in-law who is a camera buff.  I purchased the camera image file from the Silhouette store.  I began by using the original file and resized it to 5.25 x 4.0 inches and cut it out in black card stock.  Then, I created a 1/4 inch border around the image, removed all the other cut out pieces, copied a duplicate, flipped it so that it was a mirror image of the original, then merged them together on the left side and welded the shapes to form the white card base. 

For the inside of the card, I created a blackout layer, then created a rounded rectangle and typed in the sentiment.  I printed the sentiment with the registration marks added, and placed the rectangle around the sentiment.  When I was happy with the placement, I inserted the cardstock into my Silhouette and edge cut the rectangle.  This was so much fun! Thanks for stopping by today!

Dino Valentine

Hello Everyone!  This is the Valentine's Day card I made for our new Grandson.  He was born on November 21st, so this is his very first Valentine. 
I made this from a cutting file I purchased from the on-line Silhouette store.  It was cut with my Silhouette Cameo (love this machine!)  The card base is made with white cardstock and additional layer of green was cut and embossed with this fun texture.  I sponged on some darker green ink (always artichoke) to give some depth of color.  This was so much fun to make.

Smile!!!

Hello Everyone!  Here's a quick and simple card I made using a smiley face digital file from the Sillouette store (using the new Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine--love it!).  I resized the images so that it would fit in a standard size A2 envelope.  I made the card base out of white cardstock (the image is of the closed card), then cut a yellow circle and ran it through the cuttlebug using the dotted swiss folder.  The eyes and mouth were cut from basic black and highlighted with a white gel pen.  Easy peasy!

Embroidered Christmas

Hello Everyone!  This is a card that we did at my last stamping class.  It was so much fun!  The pattern for the tree was a free download offered by Karen Werner.  I pierced holes all along the tree pattern, used baker's twine and a needle to thread the pattern.  Red rhinestones became the ornaments.  The real red ric rak is a PTI die.  The snowflake brad is from Making Memories.  The brad is sitting on top of a garden green circle punched with the 3/4" circle punch.  The sentiment is from Christmas Greetings--Stampin' Up!  I really like the clean look of this project.

Nut'n Better

Hello Everyone!  I fell in love the the Autumn Acorn stamp set from PTI the moment I saw it.  The variety in the acorn caps is so adorable.  And, love the fact that there's a coordinating die set for the acorns and the leaves in the set as well.  Edgers #1 die was used to add an interesting addition to the bottom of the vanila cardstock.  The colors used are SU very vanilla, tangerine tango, early espresso and crumb cake.

Soft Sympanthy

Hello Everyone!  I needed to come up with a quick sympathy card today.  I turned to some softer colors, but didn't want it to be too pastel.  The card base is Pure Ivory by Gina K.  It's a fantastic weight for a card base.  The next layer is Baja Breeze.  I put it through the cuttlebug with the dotted swiss embossing folder and cut a window in it, using a Spellbinders nestability die.  So, the main image is really stamped on the card base.  The stamp set I used is Soft Summer (SU) with baja breeze and pear pizzaz inks.  The sentiment is from Through the Trees stamp set by PTI.  The pear pizzaz frame was made using 2 different sizes of the nestability dies.  One smaller die is placed inside a larger die and run through the cuttlebug together.  A Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon finishes this one off.  Thanks for stopping by! 

Halloween Fun

Hello Everyone!  Halloween is almost here!  Can you believe it?  We're well into fall and the colors on the trees here in the midwest, are spectacular!  I thought a fun Halloween card was in order.  For this one, I used PTI's Friendship Jar and Friendship Jar Fillers Fall.  The papers are from SU--cajun craze, black and Frightful Sight dsp.  The Friendship Jar stamp has a coordinating die.  I used it to make the clear, polka dot "glass".  I think it turned out really cute and really gives the jar some interest.  A coordinating envelope is in the background.

Waiting!

Hello Everyone!  It's been ages since I posted.  I guess I haven't been a very good blogger lately.  Half the time, I forget to take a picture of cards that I've made.  Rolling eyes here!  Well, I remembered to take a picture of this card that I made for a baby shower for our first grandchild!  He's due in November and I can't wait to be a grandmother! 
I used the Baby Bundle stamp set from Stampin' Up.  Aren't these the cutest images?!  Card stock colors used are bashful blue, old olive and soft suede.  I love the way this turned out.  After the shower, my daughter-in-law put the card on a shelf in the nursery.  Happy Days!  Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate a Birthday

Whenever I think of birthdays, cake always comes to mind.  How could it not?  What goes better with a birthday than cake!  This little cupcake, from the Create a Cupcake stamp set by Stampin' Up, fills the bill.  I used soft suede and blushing bride inks to create the little sensation.  After stamping the "frosting", I covered it in versamark ink and heat set it, using iridescent embossing powder.  Such a pretty shimmer.  The sentiment is on the inside of the card.  It reads "happy birthday with a cherry on top".  This is from the A Word for You stamp set, also from Stampin' Up. 

I love all the polka dots throughout this card.  It really gives such a feminine and fun feeling to the birthday celebration.

Baby Shower

Birthdays Byte

Hello Everyone!  This card is for my husband's birthday.  I really like the way it turned out.  Sometimes it's difficult to know when to stop with a masculine card.  I didn't want to make it too "cute".  So, in this case, less is more.  I stamped the images in Memento ink and colored them with Copic markers.  I love the blending that happens with these markers.  To make it look as if the computer, mug and mouse were sitting on a desk top, I lightly drew in lines with a crumb cake marker and ruler along the bottom of the card.  I think it gives just the right effect.  The mug and mouse are up on pop dots.  The stamp set used is Tech Talk from Gina K.

Hangin' With Friends

Hello Everyone!  Today's card was inspired by a funny thing that happened to me over the weekend.  We had our next door neighbors over for an evening and when they were leaving, they spotted a bat clinging to the bricks on the wall of our front porch!!!  YIKES!  So, in jest, I made this card to send them.  I computer generated a sentiment inside the card that says "hanging out with you!"  I think they'll get a kick out of it.  I used the Stampin Up set Out on a Limb for the branches and bats.  I masked a circle punch out for the moon, outlined it with a glue pen, and sprinkled yellow glitter to make the moon really shine.  Thanks for stopping by!
